Welcome

Thirty miles north of Indianapolis on U.S. 31 lie the remnants of the tiny community of Roberts Settlement. It now consists of several families, Roberts Chapel Church, and the cemetery, which is located to the rear of the church. The area is gently rolling with many woods and small streams, such as Little Cicero Creek. It is extremely beautiful and pleasantly quiet.

The story of these people goes back two centuries, beginning with the pioneering adventures of their ancestors as they fled with persecution in North Carolina to create a home in the Indiana wilderness. Please read more about our history.

A Message from the President June 13th, 2009

Welcome to Roberts Settlement

As the new president I am proud to represent Roberts Settlement, the board, and the past presidents that have come before me. Without these people---their time, hard work, sweat, and tears---we would not be here today.

Roberts Settlement was started by Elijah Roberts, Jim Roberts, Willis Roberts, Wade Roberts, Anthony Roberts, John Roberts, Richard Roberts, and James Roberts.

Since then, the tree has grown considerably! We all know people who have pictures and Bibles with family in them, who are wondering where they came from---we welcome everyone to come to the homecoming events with this information, and other stories, so that we can add to the tree and update our heritage. We welcome you home, to the grounds that our great-great-grandfathers and mothers lay out before us; so we can live free and make a better life for each generation.

I can not say this enough: welcome home! No matter how long it has been, or if you did not know where your roots came from, welcome. It is time we work together as they did to keep the dreams and hopes they started on July 4, 1924, alive.

Sincerely,
Your President
Paula J Gilliam
